Questions and Answers

Does it really matter what style lapel I have on my jacket?
Nope. All three lapel styles that we offer are classic, and can be worn to the most exclusive black tie event. They are as appropriate to wear now as they were fifty years ago. Your lapel style is merely a personal preference. If you are having trouble choosing, keep in mind that the notched lapel is the most popular.

Any advice on single breasted jacket vs. double breasted jacket?
A double breasted jacket should be buttoned at all times to look appropriate. Also, if you have a short stocky build, it is not as flattering. A single breasted jacket may be more comfortable because you have the option of leaving it opened. Other than that, they are both considered classic styles.

Poly/cotton tuxedo shirt vs. 100% cotton tuxedo shirt?
You really can't tell the difference just by looking at them, particularly under a jacket. However, you can feel the difference. A poly/cotton shirt is a little lighter and and not as soft as a the 100% cotton shirt. For most of our clients the poly/cotton shirt suits them just fine, and is almost half the price of the 100% cotton shirt.

What is the difference between "adjustable" and "non-adjustable" tuxedo pants?
Adjustable trousers allow you to adjust the waist size about 2 inches. The benefit of adjustable is that if you gain or lose weight, you have the option of adjusting the waist yourself without going to a tailor. All of our tuxedo packages include adjustable trousers.

What is the difference between worsted wool, Super 100's wool, Super 110's wool, and Super 120's wool?
The worsted wool tuxedo is the most popular fabric that we sell. Most tuxedos that you see in formalwear shops are made of worsted wool. The Super 100's, Super 110's and Super 120's contain more threads per square inch then the worsted wool, and therefore are much softer fabrics. A Super 120 wool tuxedo is simply the best quality tuxedo you can buy.

Do I really need to shell out the scratch for the patent leather shoes?
Let's put it this way. If your buying formalwear from a company called CheapTux.com, you probably ain't having tea with the Queen. No tuxedo shop will admit it, but there are some types of events that you can definitely "get away" with wearing plain black leather shoes. Trust us, no one is going to be looking at your feet.
However, if you are going to a high end black tie event, or a very important occasion, you should get the patent leather shoes.
